I had my grand son off and on babysitting him during this covid, at first it was basically just sitting along side him guiding him a bit while he was instructed via video. I hadn't had him for a couple months because he other grandma was staying with them after an accident she got into. This week he's been back here but now he goes to school two days a week and three days parents are expected (or maybe they think the kids can do this online thing alone but I am not of that opinion) to guide them along. It's quite a process and time consuming, the whole while the teachers are getting paid while the parents are doing the work. The teachers can't be online with them anymore because they have other kids in the classroom on the days he's not there. So in other words they rotate the kids to have smaller class sizes and less kids on the bus. My other grand kids it was the same basically, they are in a wealthier school district, I think that district set up faster to take kids back but they also started out going three days, then it was two days and now it's four days with Wednesdays off to deep clean the school. They been back since the beginning of the school year where my youngest grandson just went back about two weeks ago. I am just glad they are back even on a limited basis because it really was getting to them. Two of them were gaining to much weigh also. But you know it's bad when kids are absolutely thrilled to go back to school, they aren't even that happy about going back during normal times after summer vacations. Funny also is that during Christmas break they were so sick of being home they practically were packing bags to come stay with grandma, it was like "we love you mom and dad but we really need a break from you guys" lol.
