One year I baked a couple apple pies, while they were cooling we went to get some videos at the video store. I really didn't think the dog would touch something so hot but the dog I had at the time would eat just about everything once, including one time knocking a pan off the stove and consuming the grease, she had the runs really bad from that experience. Anyway I covered the pies with foil before I left, I just used one large piece and gentle laid it over the top. When I came home and went into the kitchen nothing appeared out of the ordinary, the foil was still there but the floor was sticky as all could be. I goes over and lifts the foil and sure enough she ate one of the pies. I couldn't believe she ate something that was still relatively hot. She also got a bad case of the runs from that. She never did try that pan gig off the stove again though, I guess the runs was more than she could take of that experience.
