Hey it sure did beat the hell out of coming home from work to do housework, cook dinner, go use my moms wringer washer (amazingly she still had one of those) to do the laundry while my boyfriend went and hung out with his friends drinking beers, smoking weed, playing or watching football, basketball or baseball. Then I only had to go to work to battle up against the masses who insisted a woman's place was in the house, once relieved of my duties I could go home relax, sit back drink a beer, smoke some weed and say "fuck the dishes" then later go to the bars, it was way more fun. I was in my teens when Gloria was going about whatever she was on about, being a teen I wasn't really paying that much attention but I sure enjoyed the opportunities she opened up for woman and their right(s) to freedom though breaking through some of the harder barriers in the work force was a bit rough. Can you even imagine that it wasn't even until 1988 that one of the largest manufacturers in this country finally open the doors from the light duty jobs they were assigning woman and throwing us into them telling us they were forced to finally open them.

Being a man you never had to suffer through the half of that, always having to fight to define yourself, not be abused by the system or felt compelled to have to live the way the system dictated to you. You'll never have lived the half of it, watching yourself not get promoted because someone else was so willing to play for pay then work hard for, imagine even losing the battle entirely having to continually pick yourself up and go back at it. Sort of like the politics of today, one side always seems to get away with it. There's some things Gloria's battle never resolved, those who believe the me to movement are just plain ignorant. One could spend all day trying to analyze upon a written statement, or just reckon with it encompasses variables, one being that some perceptions, no matter how stated, will always be the same while the other(s) get ignored.
