The Indian blood quantum can be ridiculous if you ask me. Three of my grand kids grandpa was ninety nine percent Indian, his kids were then forty nine percent Indian (as he married a white lady), which made her kids twenty four percent Indian (in reality they are more as their father is a quarter blood Indian but of a different tribe but they don't count that in her tribe)..but back to what I was going to say, the grand kids are not considered part of the tribe because they are not a full quarter blood they miss it by one percentage point. So they are not eligible for tribal benefits including health insurance.
It's the same with my sons, they are not eligible for their tribes membership because they don't consider quarter bloods as being eligible for tribal membership. Their grandmother picked the tribe (she was full blooded) to which she wanted to enroll the family, I am assuming she done so based on which tribe had the better benefits to dole out. There are other tribes that do include quarter bloods but that just grants them access to free college and a five hundred dollar bonus at Christmas. In other words they don't dole out casino profits to tribal members who are quarter blood. His girlfriends tribe does but it's weighted to the amount of blood you have, so her dad got more bi weekly then she does but her kids get left out over a one percentage point, really how do they really determine a person is missing one percentage point.
