That's what my backyard sounds like now. All because of two crickets, both which my son gave me. There wasn't a sound out there when he gave me the first one. As the days progressed he slowly made he way up about three quarters of a block away from the house. Then a couple weeks later my son swore he made it all the way back to his house as he had another noisy cricket there. He gave me that one and that one has been happy to stay in the yard...I know because he had a weird chirp. After the first night he made it up on the porch and into some small evergreen trees I had sitting there which I moved to the side yard. I sat them next to a flower bed which has a watering tray for bees/birds. I guess he thought that much better living then a apartment complex as he's been back there ever since. In the mean time the other cricket and maybe this one attracted a bunch of other crickets in the hood (they are territorial) so a whole lot of hood crickets showed up. It's the most beautiful sound. Never realized until that drive by shooting when that old guy said twenty years ago around here all you ever heard were crickets at night just what was missing. Now it all seems so much more balanced.
