First of all there's way more than eleven, twelve illegal immigrants in this country, that stat was upgraded closer to twenty million finally last year, which is still a low number with many claims of closer to twenty six million. You are right most people do not want or wish to see all those people deported. What I think most people want is better control to stop the flow the proceed with removing the bad apples instead of focusing on those who have established themselves here as close to law abiding as they have been capable of. Your idea that the wall/fence isn't needed though doesn't quash well with the stats seen in countries who did exactly that after the massive illegal problem sprung up there. They have proven to be quite effective. That may not hold true for some segments of our border but in highly populated places bordering other highly populated places it is crucial as it enables them to basically step over and disappear easily into the mix. That has to stop. Once you get that under control the terrain left will make it much more unappealing to want to risk crossing over, though some will ultimately try. That endeavor though will be much tougher just not by the terrain itself but because we walled up the major holes they come through, which can be monitor by less personal using technology with camera's that will free up more immigration officers to patrol the other area's. I think most American's feel that logically walling in the entire border isn't feasible or worth the cost in desolate areas.

The real reason you don't see a move to legalize all these illegals is because they are being used to prop up the social security trust fund and are free money to the government, states and cities from illegals who don't file taxes out of fear of being caught. Think about the scope or magnitude it would take for the IRS to go out and locate upwards of twenty million people using false social security numbers, it's simply not feasible. What generally happens is the employer is sent a letter notifying them the employee is using a false SS#, they get fired and move on to another job. Then there's situations like this which happened here and is quite telling of another way it's done:

https://www.woodtv.com/news/kent-county/hispanic-business-booms-on-sw-side-of-gr_20180328084628678/1085186697

In essence she is saying that one person files for all the others in the household. They generally live two to three families to a household. The government doesn't know that Jesus really doesn't have two jobs and that it's highly likely his bother is using his SS# to work here legally. I owned a hair salon, I had a Hispanic guy working there, what they do also is work two people off one license. The customer is no more the wiser that the license belongs to the guy/gal on first shift. It's amazing the tactics they use. It's totally unfair to those who have to abide by the rules. We have one employer of flour tortilla's here that won't hire anybody who can't speak Spanish...is that really fair? Could you even imagine the outcry if an employer stated he's wouldn't hire anybody who could speak any language other than English?

I think another broader issue here is you are missing the point that illegals have gone from working in the fields primarily to working in the manufacturing arena of the food industry. Here those are highly paid unionized jobs with good benefits. You can't really be believing that twenty some million illegals are out picking fruit. They are hired through temporary employment agencies who work requirements for hire are less stringent. I've personally seen how this transpires as several years ago when my sons started entering the work force I drove them to work and witnessed first hand the incredible amounts of Hispanic's over African American, Caucasian and others who exited. There was one place I got so mad at because my son would go there and have to wait to be assigned to a line. The Hispanic line leader would pick all the Hispanics and send everyone else home. I call immigration and it took them two years to go there and bust them. I also turned them in for violation of engaged to wait laws as my son was forced at times to wait up to forty five minutes before being told he wasn't needed...without compensation for his time. You can't do that at least in this state if you are being engaged to wait on behalf of the employer. He also worked for Roskams, same thing, I'd counted twenty Hispanics, one black guy an Asian and my son coming out after second shift...totally out of proportion to our cities ethic make up. Now in reverse a company he worked for who didn't use temp services and he was hired permanent the above was turned around. Kent Meats here has also been busted several times for hiring illegals. What this does is hold down labor cost for these companies at the expense of good paying jobs for Americans. Living two, three families to a household enables them to survive on low wage jobs mixed with using 000-00-0000 on welfare applications to obtain food benefits for their kids here while mom's down telling welfare the father lives in Mexico while he's really at his job here and Grandma's at home babysitting the kids while mom works her part time job....you see why American's can't compete with this? You see why they are really upset now?...it has absolutely nothing to do with race and everything to do with their inability to compete with such odds. Unless of course you want to live crammed one family to a bedroom in your house or end up going back to mom and dad's to live. Which is what has been happening a lot and this is the driver behind the crusade of middle aged voters who are outraged that at a time in their lives when they should be kid free and enjoying their lives they are taking their kids back in along with grand kids. No body ever cared when illegals came here to mow grass for the rich or pick produce for farmers...it wasn't until they intervened in the ability of most Americans to live the so called American dream by being allowed to flood in unabated and take good paying jobs. You couple that with the loss of jobs to globalization and you have a pot ready to boil over, which it did with the election of Trump. It was a movement of many mad Americans, sold out for cheap labor and free unclaimed tax monies going into fed/state/city coffers.

Your assessment that farmers are mad at Trump isn't what we've been seeing from farmers being interviewed here. You may see some government "mega" farmer crying but that's not what's happening with other operations. That whole thing back fired for our local news who tried to sell the headline as farmers being disappointed...which was true, they were disappointed but what they also said was much more important. They said sure they were taking a hit but unfair trade has been going on for decades and should have been dealt with years ago, though it's proving for some rough times it's never going to get figured out without some sacrifices. This from people who are the back bone of this country and always have been. These are the people who believe in god, guns and country. Though that may make you cringe but in life you have to stand up for what is right, you have to be able to defend your liberties. We don't have to burn the whole thing down, what we have to do is what we've been doing for decades, respecting each others right not to infringe upon the others while not forcing one's particular views unto another. It's really that simple. We don't force religious people to bake cakes against their religious views, we don't allow transgender people to walk into gendered bathrooms we start requiring a gender neutral bathroom, we don't allow talking about sexuality in the grade school level we leave that for a more mature age like junior high or high school...all these problems can be solved with some respect and give and take instead of forcing them down people's throats. Just as we've spent the entire history of the this country respecting the different religions and cultures of others by moving about freely choosing choices akin to whatever value(s) people hold we can move forward in the same manner as we evolve.

The reality of this all is that none of this is going to get solved with the traditional politicians who have been busy selling us out for decades, letting our companies move out without repercussions to third world labor that has proven to enrich the lives of the elitist more so than helped third world laborers, who have no regard for environmental standards, all while lining the pockets of politicians and corporate America at the expense of Americans and our environment. The answer doesn't lie in socialism or some new green deal, the answer lies in adjusting behaviors, including our own, if we want a better, cleaner standard of living then we have to back up those willing to make those changes. Before implementing things at our own disadvantage we first have to demand that others are on the same playing field.
