Hopefully I'll be able to get a good buy on some canning jars after harvest season this year. I was looking at them the other day but decided to wait for clearance pricing. I haven't had much of a garden in the last few years, even when I did freezing was more cost effective for my small family of three. I took my grandson's tomato's and have frozen five quarts of tomato soup and four quarts of stewed tomatoes so far this year. With the expanded family getting back into gardening and learning to can seems more logical. At least if all this doom and gloom materializes finally I'll be able and prepared to offset higher cost of some groceries and teach the kids a bit of the economics of growing your own food.
