It's been a while since I've been down to my spot on the river. I know others come here too, and I know why, just gaze at it....
I know, I'm staring at my screen while sitting here to write this post but I can't help it! Just want to share this with you, it's too nice!
This river is high at the moment, probably most in the US are right now, spring and all.
I can usually step down to the rock that bush is growing out of, not today though.
Unfortunately the Columbia River has been shackled with dams that control the water flow (and ruin ecosystems) but in spring, even with floodgates open, the river runs high.

A barge is headed upriver. Lemme get some pics and I'll be back....
OK this is cool, this barge is empty.
Its headed upriver, which is a clue but the giveaway is how high the cargo containers sits out of the water.
When full, the black hull is 90% submerged.
The power behind these barges is the toe boat. Yep, it's called a toe boat, not a towboat, because it has "toes" at the front that push the barges.
It's sitting g pretty low on the back end, which tells me it's pushing hard against the current.
Anyhow, it's getting pretty stormy out here so I'm going to head home for some fried fish and rice.
