I have been married to my one-and-only for 16 years. Sixteen years ago, two young and immature 21 year olds committed their lives to each other - till death do us part.
It has not always been an easy journey, but it has been a blessed journey. On our wedding day, I could not imagine being able to love her more, but our love has grown over the years. I believe that love should not be stagnant or know bounds, so I am curious to see how much our love will grow over the next 16 years.
Young romance has turned into matured romance. I still pursue her, though not as flashy as in the early days. I pursue her daily to keep our relationship strong instead of with the mentality of "to make her mine" that I see with many young couples.
She is not a possession to be controled. She is one flesh with me, so I strive to cherish her and protect because we are one. When see hurts, I hurt. When she rejoices, I rejoice. What is done to her is done to me, so there is no reason to self inflict myself by hurting my wife.
My wife may never see this post, but I want everyone on Steemit it to know I am blessed!
For those who are pursuing marriage, I give you the following
- May you find true love that grows more romantic as it grows more familiar.
- May you grow closer with your spouse as you grow older.
- May you find happiness and fulfillment in a committed and faithful relationship.
Your Turn
Let's continue the conversation in the comment section. Feel free to answer any or all of the following questions.
- Do you believe that marriage is a forever commitment?
- Do you have good or bad emotions related to the concept of marriage?
- Can familiar love and romantic love co-exist or does one give way to another?
I look forward to hearing from you.
