I wish I could offer some good advice or insight on your situation but I have neither.
What I do know is that my wife and our three biological kids also have narcolepsy , it is a very common condition with people who have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS). That was primary reason we had to pull the kids out of public school and home school them to begin with.
Our house is pretty active at night, more learning gets done between 1 and 5 AM than you could imagine and most days Shortie will have the pot of coffee brewed before I get up at 5:45. They would definitely make good third shift workers is what I always tell them.
Blondie wants to be in the field of medicine so she find a cure for EDS since it is definitely a genetic passed condition. My gut tells me that somewhere along the line on my wife's mother's family there had to be some micro-nutrient deficiency or something along those lines that affected the DNA. Blondie tends to think the same thing. She is an avid reader, at least three books a week, mainly on health conditions and natural medicines so may stumble on to something. If she finds a remedy I'll surely let you know.
Take care,
Sult
