The tradition we have is starting to take hold, mainly because I let them decide if they wanted learn what their grandmother did for a "hobby" and how I was able to help and learn. They have got to hear hours and hours of stories that might not of been shared about that aspect of their grandmother.
The fact that they go out and work on their projects even when I'm not around is even better.
Good solid wood furniture isn't easy to come by or inexpensive but older stuff with some wear and usage can be gotten for a fraction of the cost of something new and not as well built in most cases.
So much stuff is pressed particle board or laminate now I don't know that there will be future antiques from the current stuff being made.
