Yes, it is pretty amazing that a government that was created to do only two things has grown into the monster corporation that has to have it paws in everything we do and our wallets and pockets. Think about that last sentence you wrote for a minute... is that "property" really yours if some government can take it from you for not paying taxes?
We think we own property but we don't, in most cases. There was a time when property couldn't be taxed and people had allodial title to property. So there are still some old old family properties with allodial title that have been passed down from generation to generation.
Now we just have "title" and the government is our landlord. So if you don't pay the tax (rent) they kick your ass off the property and "rent" it someone else.
It's just another way government has "changed the words" to make an illusion that we don't seem to get.
