Perhaps a light musing to distract from flags, if hardly from this financial net that sits around our head to keep every hair in place, so it seems. Listen to this.
I was on my walk and saw a man wearing a T shirt, for which he seemed to me almost too old: it was very plain but very in your face, black with huge white print: A. &Fitch (plus a date and a city I suppose). Instantly, my brain got triggered to search what that A stood for. It drew me, lordandbennit, and had me interrupt The Master and Margarita on my head, to go in search of it's full name. Very, very clever. I must have given this fashion magnate all in all twenty-five minutes of my time by now. If not (subconsciously since 5 pm). Heaven help us: money really talks.

Very clever, considering, I am not in their target group, not into fashion, brands, or logos anyway, - quality, yes, but I never know what it's "called". Still, this brand name had me in its grasp. I knew - and it didn't take very long - it had to be Abercrombie. Now why would I know that? How had it nestled in my brain like a virus ever ready to explode into recognition.

A. & F. dominated my world for a moment or two! It forced me to take up this unattractive man's very boring tee, in a brain that is already starting to show its limitations. What a waste of space. What other totally useless rubbish is in there!?

So, that was money well spent, on that advertising campaign back twenty-five years ago or so, when they launched a store near me and put it in the papers. It has to be from that far back that I recall it. I can't say I come across this brand consciously anywhere nowadays.
Well, maybe not that great. Definitely not going to think of buying a T-shirt from them any time soon. They can have my brains but not my money! That'll show them.
