Rencong is a symbol of courage and gallantry of Acehnese people. Rencong is one of the most uniquely formed forms of traditional art. Since ancient times rencong in its use has functioned:
- as jewelry; rencong is used everyday as jewelry (clothing) tucked in the waist; * as an art (art of carving) and as an art tool as used in dance performances seudati;
- Rencong as tool used as tool pelebang rumbia and so on
- Rencong as a weapon of war to face the enemies of war who want to colonize Aceh like England,
Dutch and so on
