I have watched and read about celebrity moms going through depression because of breastfeeding, since I have not gone through this before, I thought they are exaggerating things because they want their parenthood become the talk of the town. I just realized that I AM WRONG.
Frustration is real as a first time mom when your milk supply doesn’t seem to be enough to tame a fussy baby. I myself for the past for weeks until present is trying my best to breastfeed my little Marius, I have done EVERYTHING advised to me, take plenty of fluids, soup, malunggay tea, Malt drinks with malunggay, Natalac, Oatmeal, Milk for pregnant and breastfeeding moms but still nothing has worked.
I just tried unlimited latching session, we started at 5:00 in the morning only to have a fussy baby at 10:00 AM, I tried to pump but did not get any, I feel like he did not get anything from me and is not getting anything from me, my milk supply is not sufficient enough for his feeding needs.
This is not the first time that this has happened, his first two weeks was exclusive breastfeeding but there was one night that he was fussy for 6 hours straight only for us to realize that he is starving. Husband had to call his pediatrician to beg for formula approval and prescription, we had to go out at 12 midnight to buy him formula.
As a mom, I feel so emotional and guilty that my body is once again betraying me, I have a child who came from my body but my body cannot provide what he needs. I envy those moms who was able to exclusively breastfeed for years.
