We all accumulate our tokens to increase our voting power. More is our voting power, better are the curation rewards. That's a fair deal and we all understand that.
But does that mean curation is all about getting rewards?
Nope, not happening. Curation is a very important power vested in the hands of stakeholders that has the capability of not only rewarding the good content monetarily but also bringing it to the trending page (forefront) and spreading the knowledge and wisdom among the audience.
When some content is curated by a lot of people and it also drives engagement, it is listed in the trending posts on the platform. That means a hell of lot more visibility to the people. Even if one has not followed the person, they would be able to see their nice content on the trending page which gives it more air.
There are multiple benefits here:
- Definitely rewards for the author and the curator.
- More visibility to the content owner, which otherwise he might not get no matter how good their content is.
- Appreciation for good quality content helps to generate more of the type.
- And the most important one being, the platform rising with quality content. Let's talk more about this.
As we all know, POB encourages quality content and engagement, so the better is the content, the higher will be the growth of the platform. And when the platform grows, we grow. POB has been known for the kind of content it generates and hence it becomes very important that the right content is curated and highlighted.
Sometimes I do see posts getting a lot of light, 100s of POBs but they don't seem to add a lot of value to me. Again, it's a subjective thing. I might not see value in what others see, but c'mon, we all know some of them don't really deserve it.
I curate content that I like, some days, I don't curate enough posts because they just don't hit me hard enough.
Curation is a power that should be used wisely. Don't just use it to earn curation rewards, have a long-term perspective. The rewards are in terms of tokens and we must aim at taking the token value to a higher level. Curate content not just because you like them, but because they add value to the community on the whole.
