Stake or Sell your earnings? Is there any right way of using your social media earnings?
Why am I even writing this post?
Off late, I came across certain conversations where I saw some people were against selling their earnings and encouraged or rather supported only staking. It didn't really seem fair to me.
While I do understand that staking our earnings is important for the growth of the community. The more you stake, the more is your voting power, higher are the curation and author rewards. Also, you can delegate your power to support new people in the community. As the community grows, we grow. That indeed is very lucrative.
Having said that, who would not want to increase the power by staking? All of us want to grow after all.
There are so many people out there who are posting and commenting for the sake of knowledge, a side income may be. They are using this engine to support their investments, diversify their portfolio and when it's time, they will get a great return.
But wait a minute, people are withdrawing their earnings!
Does that mean someone who is not staking but withdrawing their earnings doesn't wish to contribute to the growth of the community. Now that, my friend, is where I would like to debate.
There are others for whom this is their only source of income. They have to pay their bills, child's tuition fee, rents, etc. and don't have any other source of income. They have no choice but to use their earnings. Is it too bad? Are these people against the growth of the community? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
It's a Choice
Staking or Selling is an absolutely personal choice. Each one of us on this platform looks for community benefits plus our own benefits. It's afterall no charity show here. We want to grow, hence we want the community to grow.
Ask yourself, if community growth doesn't bring out any individual growth benefits, would you be still be staking enough?
How I manage my earnings
I don't rely on this income completely, it's a secondary source of income for me. But yes, it's definitely an add on and helps me meet my additional expenses.
So I stake 50% of my earnings every month and the remaining 50% I withdraw to meet my needs. If for some reason, any month, I need to withdraw a greater share of my earnings, I wouldn't mind it because at the end, I need to survive.
Fair Judgements
So, if you judge people on their wallet management, think twice. You are in a better position today, good for you. Those who have less hive power are may be contributing more to the community by sharing their knowledge and wisdom because that's how they are able to meet their family's needs.
If you really wish to see how a person is adding to the growth of the community, read out their posts, look for their engagements. And that's how you will realize their true value to the community.
