The human egg or ovum is formed in the ovary which is a part female reproductive organ also called as gonads. female can produce eggs foem 13-49 years of age. . When puberty is reached and menstruation begins, about 400,000 follicles are present . With each menstrual cycle, only one will mature into an ovum (egg), which is released into the fallopian tube.Out of many eggs, one egg will mature to be fertilized by human sperm. That means that of the one to two million follicles, only about 400 will ever mature.
So here is a microscopic picture of ovary (place where ova/egg is matured) present in my lab.
The picture shows four eggs maturing to be ova. After maturing of one egg to ova other eggs will degenerate.
