When I was a kid, I had this particular favorite toy of mine that I loved so much, it was my special toy, I made it my best friend and was always with me. I have siblings, I am the youngest but I never felt their presence around whenever I am playing with this toy. I had other toys too but it was just so different. I called it my baby. It has a very long hair and that was one thing I loved best about the toy, it’s hair.
One day I asked my mom this question I said to her "Mommy why is my baby’s hair so long and mine is short" she answered and said.
God made us differently.
I guess she would not want to bore me with so many talk relating to my question because I was so young and would not understand, that was why she use those four letter words. Those words got stuck with me and as I began to grow, I started to know the true meaning of it, that truly God made us different. Although, it is just a toy, but facing reality we were all created differently, our fingers ain’t equal so is the same thing with our personal life.
Everyone has a unique talent that makes us look different and identifying these talents in our lives makes us special in our own way. One thing that stops man from identifying his uniqueness is Comparison that is, comparing yourself with another person. Comparison in this context as to do with identifying and spotting out someone else’s unique talent, weighting it to your own standard just to know where you stand or the point you’re in life. And these comparing attitude towards life has a positive and negative effect on the person.
Some of us have Mentors, people we look up to in our society, celebrities and high profile people. These are people we learn things from to help develop our self, people who have helped us grow to identify our talents and these are people who are better than us and we hope to become better than. That is why we call them Mentors. Looking up to them, comparing and spotting your own weaknesses isn’t a bad thing, so long as when you identify these differences you’re using it to develop yourself and the process of you developing yourself you discover positive changes and growth in your life.
The negative effect of comparison causes low-self esteem. Comparing yourself with another can cause lack of confidence on your own self that you can’t make it or be a better person. It causes fear, fear that you’re not good enough, and it causes the mind to develop jealousy, depression and hatred. Hatred that the other person is far better than you are.

In conclusion, everyone has a special time to shine, comparing yourself with another person would not help instead, put that energy in developing yourself while you wait for your time. It is not a bad thing to learn from the people who we fill are doing better than us. Everyone is different like I have said countless times. We all can’t shine at the same time, the moon waits for the sun to shine, so wait for your time.
