WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT DURING A SATURN MAHADASHA IF SATURN IS RETROGRADE AND AN ENEMY OF THE ASCENDANT
One of the biggest misconceptions in Vedic astrology is that a retrograde Saturn or a Saturn that is considered an enemy of the ascendant will automatically produce a difficult Saturn Mahadasha.
From the perspective of KP (Krishnamurti Paddhati) astrology, such conclusions are considered incomplete because a planet does not deliver results solely based on its natural nature, dignity, retrogression, or relationship with the ascendant.
Instead, the actual outcome of a Mahadasha depends on what the planet signifies within that specific horoscope. Therefore, a retrograde Saturn can produce highly positive results in one chart and significant challenges in another, depending entirely on the houses it signifies and it will vary horoscope to horoscope.
According to KP vedic astrology the planet gives results of its nakshatra lord and it itself becomes the source of it and the sublord shows the quality of the events.
In other words, Saturn does not independently decide the nature of the events, it faithfully delivers the indications of its nakshatra lord. If the nakshatra lord signifies favorable houses such as the 2nd, 6th, 10th, or 11th, Saturn Mahadasha can bring financial growth, career advancement, professional recognition, success through sustained effort, and stability, even if Saturn is retrograde or considered unfavorable for the ascendant.
On the other hand, if the nakshatra lord signifies houses like the 8th or 12th, or combinations that indicate obstacles, losses, delays, or transformations, then Saturn Mahadasha is more likely to manifest those experiences.
KP astrology further refines this analysis through the sublord. While the nakshatra lord determines the type of events that are promised, the sublord determines the quality, intensity, and manner in which those events unfold.
Two individuals may have Saturn placed in the same sign and the same nakshatra, yet experience completely different Mahadashas because their sublords differ.
A supportive sublord can allow beneficial events to materialize smoothly, whereas an unfavorable sublord may bring the same promised events through delays, struggles, disappointments, or repeated effort. Thus, the sublord acts as the final authority that modifies the experience of the Mahadasha.
Retrogression, from the KP perspective, does not automatically make Saturn good or bad. Instead, it may alter the timing, repetition, or internal nature of the experiences, but the fundamental results still depend on Saturn's significations through its nakshatra lord and the final judgment of the sublord.
Likewise, Saturn being an enemy of the ascendant does not guarantee suffering throughout its Mahadasha. The horoscope must always be judged as a complete system rather than through isolated rules.
Therefore, the correct expectation during Saturn Mahadasha in KP astrology is neither optimism nor pessimism based solely on Saturn's retrograde status or its relationship with the ascendant.
The Mahadasha can be exceptionally rewarding or distinctly challenging depending on the houses Saturn signifies through its nakshatra lord, while the sublord determines how those promised results are experienced in practical life.
Since I am a KP astrologer and so I tried to explain it as per my understanding thru KP vedic astrology paddhati / method where greater emphasis on stellar significations and sublord analysis than on generalized interpretations based only on planetary nature, sign placement, or retrogression is given more importance.
Of course every small information in vedic astrology is important but an astrologer should understand how to interpret it and to what extent to give importance of that parameters.
