The answer to the question is astro technical and so I will have to explain it step by step for a easy understanding for readers with less knowledge of vedic astrology.
In a vedic horoscope there are 12 bhavas / houses and each house represents a rashi / zodiac and each house signify many events in a human life.
The 9 planets that is sun, moon, mercury, mars, Jupiter, venus, Saturn, rahu and ketu are positioned in every horoscope as per their birth ( date of birth, time of birth and place of birth ).
The placements of the planets in the vedic horoscope give rise to our destiny / faith.
Our destiny is formed by the promised events of the vedic horoscope, and the events can be positive or negative.
The time of delivery of the events is seen from the ruling mahadasha planet and its sub and sub sub periods known as antardasha, pratiantardasha, suskmadasha and prandasha.
When the astrologer take up a horoscope then they study each house and learn the impact of the promise of that house and under what circumstances.
Astrologer also use simple logic to give their predictions eg. when a parent of a child comes for prediction then seeing at the age of the child the astrologer decides to predict about the upcoming education and health which is the nearest needed prediction. At this stage giving prediction of marriage is of no use and so a simple logic is used to predict about the nearest needed prediction.
But there are also communities which still practice child marriage as their custom. So it is always said in vedic astrology that an astrologer need to see the Desh Kaal and Patra before shooting his predictions.
As I said earlier that the promise of the events in the horoscope can be positive or negative and when the positive promised events of life are supported by the ruling mahadasha period then a native will get all his positive events of life activated during that mahadasha and its sub periods.
On the other hand, when the negative promised events of life are supported by the ruling mahadasha period then a native will get all his negative events of life activated during that mahadasha and its sub periods.
Sometime mahadasha ruling period shows mix promises of positive and negative periods then the astrologer study the time frame when the positive will get activated and the time frame when the negative will get activated and accordingly instruct the person in question.
A vedic horoscope / birth chart gives us the information of the good and bad period in advance and a wise person can utilize the information to preplan his future course of actions in advance and thus can minimize the negative impact of it and get a shy of relief from it.
I said minimize the negative impact, yes its minimize. Other than God or Saint, no one on earth can wipe off the negative impact of the planets that is promised in one’s horoscope.
The astrology article may look to be simple to read and understand but in real practice an astrologer may take more than 5 years of very good practice and even out of that only a fist full of vedic astrologers are only successful.
This is the reason I always say that vedic astrology is very complex shastra and one need to learn as well as understand it well as only learning is not enough to predict accurately.
