Little black receipt books, or svarteboka, sometimes grimoires, often hodge-podges of folk rites, herbalism, and other content, were numerous in times past, sometimes passed generationally within families. There are numerous of these works in the literary history of Europe, many of which presumably have never been made available publicly.
