Hace una semana instalamos un mini UPS para al menos tener conexión a internet durante los apagones que como sabrán han sido cada vez mas fuertes en Venezuela, aunque hay otros estados en peor situación que nosotros, tambien nos hemos visto muy afectados, durante días muchos bajones de luz o voltajes que se disparan, ausencia de luz por HORAS. Esto ha afectado muchísimo no solo nuestra vida diaria y rutinas si no tambien nuestro trabajo, ya que trabajamos desde la computadora y ha sido una pesadilla estar aquí pensando que en cualquier momento se puede ir la luz y perderse todo tu trabajo. Asi que esta semana me dedique a buscar UPS para nuestra pc, a pesar de que no teníamos el presupuesto completo para ese gasto, decidimos averiguar y conseguir opciones decentes para nuestro PC. > A week ago, we installed a mini UPS so we could at least maintain an internet connection during the power outages, which, as you know, have been getting worse and worse in Venezuela. So this week I spent my time looking for a UPS for our PC. Even though we didn’t have the full budget for that expense, we decided to do some research and find decent options for our PC.

La búsqueda comenzó en internet, averiguando un poco con las características de mi PC, para saber cual era el voltaje ideal para mi pc ya que no solo es comprar un equipo y ya… Realmente fue bastante complicado para mi entender todo esto pero finalmente después de varios videos pude entender mas o menos lo que necesitaba mi computadora y no busco un equipo que me deje la computadora prendida por 5 horas o algo asi, solo que me diera el tiempo suficiente para cerrar todos los programas con calma y apagar mi computadora sin que se dañe por los bajones de luz. Por internet las opciones eran muy limitadas asi que hoy fuimos al centro para averiguar directamente en algunas tiendas. > My search started online, where I did some research on my PC’s specs to figure out the ideal voltage for it, since it’s not just a matter of buying a power supply and calling it a day… It was actually pretty complicated for me to figure all this out, but finally, after watching several videos, I was able to understand more or less what my computer needed. I’m not looking for a power supply that keeps my computer running for 5 hours or anything like that—I just want it to give me enough time to close all my programs calmly and shut down my computer without it getting damaged by power surges. The options online were very limited, so today we went downtown to check out some stores in person.

Conseguimos una tienda que no solo tenía lo que buscamos, sino que tambien nos asesoraron bastante bien y además tenían pagos en cuotas, lo cual me favoreció muchísimo ya que este UPS costo mucho mas de lo que pensé, gastamos $240… Compramos un UPS de 1500VA y 900W características que duplican a mi pc y que puede darnos un tiempo aproximado de 20 a 30 minutos después de que se vaya la luz para poder apagar correctamente toda la computadora. No creímos que fuese tan pesado, nos costo bastante poder trasladarnos de vuelta a casa, enserio es SUPER PESADO. > We found a store that not only had what we were looking for, but also gave us great advice and offered payment plans, which really helped me out since this UPS cost a lot more than I expected—we spent $240… We bought a 1500VA, 900W UPS—specs that double my PC’s power—which can give us about 20 to 30 minutes after the power goes out to shut down the entire computer properly. We didn’t think it would be so heavy; it was really hard to carry it back home—it’s seriously SUPER HEAVY.

Tiene 8 enchufes mas que suficiente para nosotros que solo ocupamos 3, no se que tal funciona aun ya que hoy por suerte no se ha ido la luz… Ya quiero que se vaya para probarlo (? JAJAJA > It has 8 outlets—more than enough for us since we only use 3. I don't know how well it works yet since, luckily, the power hasn't gone out today… I can't wait for the power to go out so I can test it (? HAHAHA.

Además tiene una pequeña pantalla que sinceramente no se para que, aun no entiendo bien como funciona, no me juzguen. Esta compra representa un gasto bastante fuerte pero muy necesario, es mejor pagar eso que esperar que se dañe algún componente de la computadora que probablemente saldría mas costoso que el mismo UPS. > It also has a small screen that, to be honest, I don’t really know what it’s for—I still don’t quite understand how it works, so please don’t judge me. This purchase is a pretty big expense, but a very necessary one; it’s better to pay for this than to wait for a computer component to break, which would probably end up costing more than the UPS itself.
