I got my degree,
but that well is dry.
I worked 18 hour days,
I thought I’d die.
We live in a virtual world,
where we control the things we see and the stories we tell ourselves.
What’s the endgame?
Fortune and fame?
Pills. Bills. Cheap Thrills.
Blasé blasé, it’s trite and all the same.
Hushed hurried whispers,
and backroom deals.
Are constant reminders to ask
“Is any of this real?”
These narratives we read and retell,
the stories we believe,
Do they serve us well?
