Doernbecher Air Jordan 4

The Air Jordan 4 Doernbecher was designed by Doernbecher Hospital cancer patient, Isaiah Scott and released on November 5th, 2011. The shoe was centered around a Superman theme, which was the nickname given to Isaiah during his cancer treatment. Every year Nike teams up with a patients at Doernbecher hospital and they get to design there own shoe. Its a limited release and all proceeds go to the foundation. This release is special to me due to my father is fighting Lukemia and so is the child who designed these hence I had to get a pair!

However, he’s also spent extended time as a patient at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. We teamed up with Doernbecher to let Isaiah bring his own creative vision for a Jordan shoe to life. While at Doernbecher, Isaiah became known for is stoic approach to treatment – never complaining. His mom would call him “Superman” because he was “strong as steel”. Young Isaiah embraced his newfound strongman reputation in the design of the Air Jordan 4 DB. Unlike any Jordan to come before it, the first thing that draws your attention is the Superman ‘S’ shield woven label on the tongue. Warner Brothers was touched by Isaiah’s story, and gave us permission to use the logo on his behalf. Neon green laces and pops throughout represent Isaiah’s favorite color, and are reminiscent of Superman’s Kryptonite. Blue mesh and stitching on the upper, and red in the heel cushioning system and sockliner pay tribute to Superman’s suit.
