The Million Dollar Question.
Most of you know that one of the first things you are advised to do on Steem (as well as other platforms) is to provide quality content. As a long time blogger I've been accustomed to researching my facts and the facts of others, in order to provide readers with what I think is at least something that is worth the few minutes it takes to read a story, post, or even a comment. Why? I think we deserve to have more than just anything thrown together for the sake of a read. Some articles don't even have anything TO READ . That's not saying that every article is going to be done as if each post is going to win a Nobel prize for literature. Not by a long shot. Still, it's kind of a shock to see so many not taking the time to at least make it seem like they can get out more than a ...

What I think may not be anything someone wants to really hear. After all if we can make money from just one photo, thrown in the wind haphazardly with three words and make money, who cares? Right? I do. Therefore, I've decided that although I do like to follow and read (as well as learn about) what my peeps write, I'm not going to just upvote any article just because someone may be following me.
My upvotes (at this point in time) take a long time to regenerate and giving just one cent to someone just isn't something I like doing. I'd prefer to give as much as I can. Maybe one day when I get my slider and have more reputation I can be more flexible. That still won't mean I'm just going to click on anything (especially if I know what to expect even before I read it).
Steemit is a really innovative and fun platform. One that I'm sure is still in it's infancy. After all, what's a year in the mix of things? Not long at all. I think there will come a time where those who aren't posting at least coherent sentences or providing value in a structured way will be penalized as spammers. Posting every few minutes for the sake of a few pennies isn't worth it to me. I doubt that anyone will pay me more than a few pennies for nonsense or gibberish.
I do understand that we all have different skill sets. There are techies, experts, artistic and plain old creative people on here. There may even be those with disabilities or some other factor that hinders them. There are also those with language barriers trying to get heard and those for whom life (because of a certain situation) may not have access to a good education. In that case I can only try to read between the lines and cast my upvote accordingly.
In closing I'd like to say that if you really care about getting your thoughts out there please try to really make our community a really strong one! We want to make this site one we'll all be proud to say years from now I've been rocking it on Steemit for years!
Here's to growing together and helping each other in more than just counting the cash in each line. We can do it!
