Woke up to this awesome scene as I looked out the window.
When I last left you I had played a gig in Barcellos had a panic attack snapped out of it and the singer had hurt his heel jumping off the stage.
I am sorry it has taken my so long to complete this tour diary. If you have not read the other installments please click on the links. To get up to date.
Now where was I .......ah yes woke up to the brilliant view I have posted above. Our singer unfortunately was less of a pretty picture his heel was messed up after jumping off the stage and that first step out of his bed confirmed that as he wobbled out of bed. We then checked out of our hotel and got the train back to Porto.
Our first mission was to find and devour the legendary francesinha. This is a legendary sandwhich in Porto and it is basically two pieces of bread with covered with loads of meat and cheese covered in like a red salsa sauce. Our guitarist had to leave to get back to Spain but proudly proclaimed he would finish the sandwich in 5 mins. This is the reason why there is a timer in the pic and I am happy to report he did it in 4 mins.
I however took my time while nursing a glass of house wine.
After our gargantuan meal we went for a walk around the town, our singer who is from Porto took us around and showed us some beautiful spots. I have mentioned in previous posts about this trip that Portugal is awash with buildings that have tiled mosiaccs on the buildings. Here is a classic example from the city centre.
Another good example of this is in the main train station where they have a bunch of these mosiacs depicting Portugal’s history.
From there we walked up to one of the main churches called Se Cathederal (The "e" in Se is supposed to have an accent on it) that gave us a great view of the city.
We also got to see a glimpse of the former rough neighbourhood that has now been...ummmm....gentri... upscaled .( sorry I really hate using word "gentrified" its what dull assholes say to sound smart without any idea about the entire concept and how they are part of the problem)
Our last stop on our whistle stop tour was a unique Mcdonalds. Unique in the fact that it been placed beneath a building the still had remnants of fascist symbols. So it is fitting that our singer and guide should us this life imitating art , political statement , juxpostion or image that can fire off so many arty words it makes you sick.
This transitions perfectly and pretentiously into a great shot depicting the writing was on the wall that is was time for us to leave.
On that note we went to airport and again I waited for to board the flight look at assholes queuing.
