I guess the king is not a very wise man. He should have listened to the Valet. The eldest daughters all pretended to love their father because of what they would get from him, that's so bad of them. I don't even think the little girl did anything wrong, after all her father is fond of salt and she knew that well.
It's more disheartening to know that the king willed everything to his eldest daughters without leaving anything to himself, he didn't even know that the part of the will he reserved for himself was not included because his daughters never cared about him and cheated him on that. Well he's probably going to experience hard times for a while. Maybe his younger daughter will end up helping him in the end.
