Back in the saddle to get my latest strategy post out in the world following another small break for offline life ...
And as usual we'll start with a recap of yesterday's performance.
Recap - 17th April, 2023
Two winners combining to boost the kitty nicely, and effectively making todays selections fee bets.
Sly Madam was always in contention, ultimately urged on to take the lead in the final furlong, staying on to win by 3.75 lengths at the line. Concorde was kept to the rear early on, before making smooth headway from 3f out, moving to the front inside the last 2f, and steadily moving clear towards the line, winning by a comfortable 4.25 lengths.
Today's selections
Still close at the top with two tipsters tied for the lead for the month, and also the top two in the overall competition which is rapidly approaching it's conclusion.
The Bets
Of our two bets today the first Reach For The Moon is ridden by the great, 3 time champion jockey, Frankie Dettori. Frankie announced his intention to retire in December 2022, after a stellar career spanning 35 years, with winners in big races around the world. He knows this horse well, having ridden him twice to the winning line (and several 2nd places to boot). Last time out was on heavy ground, which didn't suit as he finished 6th of 7. Our second selection Sir John Monash has bagged a trio of 4th places in the first three starts of his career, and is making his handicap debut and going significantly up in trip this time out. Looks like to start the favourite, and carries top weight, giving 2lbs to the next best fancied Fox Flame who is the only horse in the field of 6 with a win to date. Today's Jockey Ben Curtis was on our winning selection Concorde yesterday, and had 3 seconds to follow that.
