Hello one and all,
A bumper crop of racing in the UK and Ireland today with 4 meetings in England, and 2 more in Ireland. Our top tipsters for April have all plumped for selections in just two of those meetings Newmarket and Chelmsford. Two of those tipsters have plumped for the same runner so only three main bets will be placed. (However, the odds and paid places available on the duplicate selection are just good enough, to allow for an each-way punt at one of my other bookies, giving us a bit of back-up for the kitty).
Recap - Wednesday, 19th April, 2023
A hat-trick of losses yesterday, unfortunately, with none of our selections finishing higher than 4th in their respective races, and none having an ideal outing.
Eminency got hampered at the start, and was never given much room throughout, switched right to try and find space, and made some headyway in the final furlong, but the poor start meant he was always hunting the winner instead of leading of the pack.
Initinso was steady from the jump, pulling hard, however, and proving a handful for jockey Hollie Doyle. Urged on at around 3f to go, making some headway, but weakened a furlong later having spent all his energy in the first few furlongs, finishing some 17 lengths behind the winner.
Admiral D almost flew out of the stalls, which wasn't the ideal start and found himself in second last place early on. Raced steadily after that, but with the field strung out across the track, had to find less than straight around the pack. Having done that was making good headway chasing down the leading four, but ultimately ran out of track finishing a close 5th at the line.
Tipsters Standings
It still remains tight at the top, with four of our tipsters on 7 wins from a possible 19 tips after yesterdays action. I haven't shown the full table but there are two tipsters who haven't had a single winner from their selections so far this month - just two non-runners negating a complete 100% failure rate, obviously not one's to be following at the moment, and I imagine they must be tearing their hair out at the lack of success, after all this is their job, as difficult as it is.
Today's Bets
Three bets again to consider for today:
Pinafore is the selection by two of the leading four tipsters for April. One bet placed for this strategy as a win bet shown here, and another at my other bookie as an each-way shot. Scored her first win back in September 2022, from just her third start over this distance.
The Foxes returns to the track for the first since September 2022, looking to grab a third win a row, and with top jockey Osin Murphy on board, should be there or thereabouts again this time out. That September success was also over this distance
Rose Of Arcadia A top four finisher in two starts this year, before hitting the winners circle last month, with today's jockey back on board. That day the winning margin was a comfortable 10 lengths, with two of the protagonists in that race also running against him today. Handicapper has treated him with an 8lb rise in his rating as a result of that victory, and thus carries top weight for this outing. Still considered a top contender, however.
