About 3 weeks after Sausage Software started to sell the HotDog Web Editor online, Oscar Mayer contacted me and offered me $1 million - not for the software, for the domain sausage.com. Since a month before I was down to my last $18, I briefly entertained the idea. I wrote back to the guy “tell ‘em if they throw in a Wiener Mobile I will consider it”. I never heard back from them. Wiener Mobiles were just too valuable back in July 1995. Call me crazy - and some do - but a fully chromed Sausage mobile would’ve been a great cross-country promotional vehicle...
...Better than those Red Bull ones with hot chicks driving them and cans coming out the top.
We ended up instead with an RV with a HotDog banner blasting Snoop Dogg at Comdex and the Netscape parking lot...but that’s a story for another time.
Well, these days it seems Wiener Mobiles are just being handed out Willy-Nilly in #cryptocurrency disputes. A year’s supply of bacon is more valuable.
