I used to make pesto, sadly, I now find it cheaper to buy in jars as pine nuts are so unbelievably expensive to buy in the UK nowadays, but I make a lot of other Italian style sauces and I use an unreal amount of basil.
I just love the smell of the leaves as you take them from the plant, I feel the same about tomato leaves and have been looking (this week actually), in to ways of using the leaves in dishes, like many people, I always thought they were poisonous to eat.
There is something very satisfying about being able to cook with ingredients that you grow yourself, and I always share them with others 😏
