2007-2011 I was a student, part time employee, home owner and drowning in consumer debt. My wife has a want, want, want consumer spending mindset. Me on the other hand I considered myself an individual who was financially clued up. I experienced my parents go insolvent and that gave me an appreciation for being frugal. With all that we slowly sunk deeper into financial quicksand. By the start of 2012 we were close to 10k in consumer debt and the relationship was rocky.
