Hey guys,

it goes on with the lightpainting madness during the lockdown in my little home studio. 馃 I still have a plenty of time to experiment with light.

Today I'm coming around the corner with a shot where I messed around with fluorescent powder. It's not a particularly complex shot, with lots of tripods and lenses, but it doesn't always have to be.

I found the fluorescent powder in an online shop. At first I had no idea what to do with it. I just tried a few things, many of them didn't work.

For this image, I took a piece of black cardboard and modelled a pattern with two colours. Then I placed the cardboard in front of the camera, which was mounted on my CRT. I lit the cardboard wie UV-Light and rotated 6 x 60 Degress and the shot was done.

f/5.6 | ISO 100 | 120 sec. exposure time on 48 mm Sigma (28-70 mm)

The image was taken in several steps, during a longexposure. Nothing is added or removed in post processing. No Photoshop!

What is Camera Rotation?

Camera Rotation is a Light Painting technique that falls into the category of kinetic Light Painting. The CRT (Camera Rotation Tool) is a device which allows the camera lens axis to be rotated during a single exposure.

I find the effect quite interesting. Maybe something similar can be implemented in future works.馃槵

No idea what light painting is?

Light painting is a photographic technique in which exposures are made by moving a hand-held light source while taking a long exposure photograph, either to illuminate a subject or to shine a point of light directly at the camera, or by moving the camera itself during exposure. Nothing is added or removed in post processing.
