I hope you all had a lovely day and i pray for better days ahead and lots of success in your endeavours even in this festive period.
So today,i want to write on a really pressing issue which has been bothering my mind for quite some time and that is using churches as a front to pursue money or earn cash.
Now,i would really like to focus mostly on Africa,Nigeria precisely because that is where i come from and i gathered expreciences used in this write-up from numerous events that happened down here.
Nigeria is an extremely religious nation with three popular religions dominating the country which are Christianity,Islamism and African Traditional Religion(ATR).Christianity is really common and dominant in the eastern and southern regions of the country but sparse in the north where Islamism is dominant.
With christianity being very much common in the eastern and southern region comes with lots of churches and places of worship over the region.
This is really good and as a christian,i believe this really helps in promulgating the gospel and making sure it gets to the ends of the earth,but i am highly disturbed with the events which take place in such churches and places of worship.
Most recent and current churches sadly,now use this platform as a means of livelihood in most parts of the regions mentioned earlier earning money for themselves and living flamboyant lifestyles.
In most eastern parts of the country like Abia State,Aba precisely,the number of new churches is quite much and most of these churches base keenly on extracting money from the church members through lots of dubious ways and forms.
As a christian,i totally support giving and i believe it is an essence of christianity but most of these new churches use this as a weapon of sanction for money making,compelling their members with the unfair advantage that they are ministers of the gospel and converse directly with the Holyspirit and knows His will.
It is no longer news that the unemployment rate in Nigeria is severe and this has led so many youths into theology schools becoming pastors and ministers of the gospel all for the mere reason of surviving,although i still strongly believe that some of these youths were really called to be such and tasked with spreading the gospel to save souls for God.
I am really concerned about this because i think this is making Christianity lose its touch and essence which is majorly salvation.These new churches now speak always on money with different sorts of donation and seeds which now divert from the very essence of the gospel.
The essence of christianity,i believe,is all about salvation and sermons and services should be forwarded in that regards.Donations and offerings is not bad but it should not be the major purpose of the church.
The church should aim at spreading the gospel to all corners of the world to save lives and possibly make the world a better place before the second coming of our Lord,Jesus Christ.
I really hope that these churches will understand this and adjust into the true form of a christian church.
