Not sure about the US, but in Canada people and corporations are the same thing as far as the law is concerned.

From the Interpretations Act definitions section:

person, or any word or expression descriptive of a person, includes a corporation; (personne)

So are calls to raise taxes on corporations a call to raise taxes on people without anyone realizing? Who knows.
