The Conceptual Process
In order to solve a creative problem, or any problem really, one needs to come up with ideas. These ideas have to be recorded. Thus, the conceptual process is born!
The illustrator employs various techniques in order to come up with ideas. Ranging from games, random word associations, intense exploration, and even just sleeping. But taking inspiration from these activities and then developing these into a visual idea is often not very easy. Therefore, the best way to solve visual problems is through sheer number. Drawing the same portrait 30 times and then picking the best one will surely give one the best outcome, is it not? Well, not always. Sometimes the creative is under immense time constraints. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a system that will most efficiently get the best outcome.
