Content
Create original content. Find your niche. Be creative.
Create a schedule and stick to it. If you're going to post daily, then find something that comes natural to you. If you're going to post weekly, then do your research and make it the best post you can make. Post things that attract people. Play on your target audience. If you're going to post crypto-babble, then don't just copy the MANY other crypto-news sites. Add your own twist. Make it entertaining. Make it better. Steemit is not going to replace other successful blogging sites by being the same as those sites. You have to make it your own.

Followers
So now you have a schedule. You know how to create posts. You've joined some communities. What now? I'm sure you've noticed your follower count going up. But what do you do with that? Easy answer. Engage with them. Look at who's following you. Go to their profiles. Look at their content. Comment. Comments are super important because it makes you relevant. I'm sure you've heard the saying, out of sight, out of mind. Well it especially applies to steemit.
Curation
So you've been posting and making big money. But now you want to go on holiday, or laze around a bit. What should you do? Curate! Curating on steemit refers to voting! Yes, you earn big money by voting. I know it seems ridiculous, but it's true. So how does it work? Well it's rather complicated. But to quote the steemit FAQ,
If a post is upvoted the moment of posting, 100% of the curation reward goes to the author.
At 3 minutes, 90% goes to the author and 10% to the curator.
At 15 minutes it's a 50/50 split.At 27 minutes, 10% goes to the author and 90% to the curator.
If a post is upvoted 30 min after posting, 100% of the curation reward goes to the curator.
Read the FAQ here.
