Who are we?
STEMng is the Nigerian sub-community of the stemsocial community, a community that has been supporting stem authors on the hive blockchain for about four years now. While stemsocial focuses on everyone irrespective of their country, STEMng is specifically for Nigerians. The best stem contents published by Nigerians on the Hive blockchain are highlighted weekly.

@busted1Our first post for this week borders around a piece of good news. No normal human will not be happy about a disease going extinct. But that's not the exact catch here. The catch is to learn more about the disease itself, why it is going into extinction, and why more efforts need to be invested for it to into permanent extinction. One less disease for humans to worry about.

I got interested in studying the thyroid gland the first time I discovered that I have the potential to develop goiter, perhaps later in life just like my dad. For anyone that doesn't already know about this structure in humans, here is a good post that explains it and the possible diseases that could plague it.

Next in line is the final part of what has been a post-series on total hip arthroplasty using a real-life case study. This is a rehabilitation process that seeks to educate and inform about a particular case of medical rehabilitation.

This week on our weekly science and technology report is filled with some really interesting and borderline weird scientific snippets from around the world. I mean, if someone tells you salts taste sweet, you are likely to not to consider them normal, right? What if you are told that plants cry out sometimes when they are stressed? No, these are not pseudoscientific reports. Read the post to know me.

The eye is the light of the body, goes the popular African saying. Africa as a continent is plagued with several problems and eyecare is not the least of them. In this post, the author highlights some of the challenges faced by those living in the rural areas of Ghana when it comes to accessing eye care and hinted on the potential of Hive blockchain to alleviate these problems through decentralized funding.
