I walk alone in the shadows dark,
Through the spaces black, unseen
Fitting into corners tight, gaps small,
People move, in front, behind
To the left, to the right
Above, below,
On all sides as a fortress besieged.
Known to many yet known by none,
I move on, another gap to fit,
A shell to hide under,
Bored, confused,
Robotic? That's what they said
I have dived to the depths unseen
Of the oceans of confusion
The pearl of wisdom I found there
Is now lost to me.
Dull, uninteresting
I may appear to some, perhaps I am
Unintentional, yet too late
People move on, change stays by
A new gap to fit in; yet as all my attempts
I'll never fit. Or will I, for once?
