Hola, amigos de la comunidad de #hivediy,hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un proyecto de dibujo que nació en un momento inesperado y se convirtió en la oportunidad perfecta para salir de la rutina o nuestra zona de confort y poder ganarle al aburrimiento y practicar mis técnicas de combinación con lápices de colores.Hace unos días nos quedamos sin energía eléctrica en casa,ante el aburrimiento de no tener pantallas ni internet decidí tomar mi libreta y buscar inspiración en la naturaleza, entonces salí al patio de mi casa y comencé a observar detenidamente las plantas. A veces las vemos todos los días pero no nos detenemos a detallar sus formas sus líneas o las texturas de sus hojas.Decidí usar varios de esos detalles como base para el dibujo. Debo admitir que a veces se me dificulta lograr una buena combinación de colores o dar con las formas exactas así que aproveché la tarde para practicar la mezcla de tonos cálidos y fríos.
Hello, friends of the #hivediy community! Today I want to share with you a drawing project that was born unexpectedly and became the perfect opportunity to break out of my routine or comfort zone, beat boredom, and practice my colored pencil blending techniques. A few days ago, we lost power at home. Bored of not having screens or internet, I decided to grab my sketchbook and look for inspiration in nature. I went out to my backyard and began to carefully observe the plants. Sometimes we see them every day, but we don't stop to notice their shapes, lines, or the textures of their leaves. I decided to use several of these details as the basis for the drawing. I must admit that sometimes I find it difficult to achieve a good color combination or to get the shapes right, so I took advantage of the afternoon to practice mixing warm and cool tones.

Step by step
Comencé trazando las formas generales inspiradas en las ramas y el fruto. Decidí usar un tono marrón claro para definir los contornos en lugar del clásico grafito oscuro buscando un acabado más suave y natural para la base.
I began by sketching the general shapes inspired by branches and fruit. I decided to use a light brown tone to define the contours instead of the classic dark graphite, aiming for a softer, more natural finish for the base.
Empecé el coloreado por el fruto central. Para darle volumen apliqué una base de color amarillo en las zonas de luz y comencé a construir capas con diferentes tonos de rojo y naranja usando trazos verticales para simular la textura de la cáscara.
I started coloring with the central fruit. To give it volume, I applied a base of yellow to the light areas and began building layers with different shades of red and orange, using vertical strokes to simulate the texture of the peel.
Aquí vino mi mayor reto la combinación de colores. Para las hojas alargadas de la derecha me arriesgué mezclando tonos azules, morados y marron oscuros.
Here came my biggest challenge: the color combination. For the elongated leaves on the right, I took a risk by mixing shades of blue, purple, and dark brown.
Para la rama que corona el fruto decidí usar una combinación mucho más brillante. Mezclé amarillo intenso con verde claro en las hojas superiores creando un balance visual con respecto a los tonos oscuros que había aplicado en el lado derecho.
For the branch that crowns the fruit, I decided to use a much brighter combination. I mixed intense yellow with light green on the upper leaves, creating a visual balance with the dark tones I had applied on the right side.
Sentía que la composición tenía espacios muy vacíos alrededor del fruto. Inspirándome en los pequeños zarcillos de algunas plantas trepadoras de mi patio añadí formas de espirales verdes en la parte inferior para darle más dinamismo y movimiento al espacio en blanco.
I felt the composition had too much empty space around the fruit. Inspired by the small tendrils of some climbing plants in my yard, I added green spiral shapes at the bottom to give more dynamism and movement to the blank space.
Finalmente extendí las enredaderas hacia la esquina superior izquierda y rellené las hojas restantes con degradados de verde y amarillo. Definí los contornos de la pequeña flor acampanada con tonos rojizos para que resaltara en medio de la vegetación circundante.
Finally, I extended the vines toward the upper left corner and filled in the remaining leaves with gradients of green and yellow. I defined the outline of the small, bell-shaped flower with reddish tones so that it would stand out amidst the surrounding vegetation.
Botton line
Aunque empecé este dibujo simplemente para pasar el rato durante el apagón me sirvió muchísimo para soltar la mano y experimentar con las de capas colores y perder el miedo a las mezclas de color. La naturaleza del patio resultó ser la mejor escuela de dibujo.¿Qué les parece el resultado? Although I started this drawing simply to pass the time during the blackout, it was incredibly helpful for loosening up my hand and experimenting with layers of color, overcoming my fear of color mixing. The natural surroundings of the courtyard turned out to be the best drawing school. What do you think of the result?
