June 04, 2022 at a classic car event and there was a model of a FIAT that I did not know, a Pininfarina124 DS. The production of the 124 runs from 1966 to 1985. Although I am Italian, I admit that, I did not know this model of car produced by the best known Italian car manufacturer. In fact, it must be said that most of the sales took place in the United States of America.
This Sport Spider passenger car mounted a four-cylinder engine and had a top speed of 170 kilometers per hour.
The Fiat 124 sport spider was designed and also produced by Pininfarina. Pininfarina is an Italian company that still works in the field of car bodies. The design of the car was done by Tom Tjaarda, a designer from the United States who did his work mainly here in Italy. He has worked not only for Fiat but also for Ferrari and De Tomaso.
The car had radial tires, disc brakes, a five-speed manual gearbox and was rear-wheel drive.
In its time this passenger car was the most affordable with a twin-shaft engine. The twin-shaft engine is an engine in which the timing is done with two camshafts.
Searching a bit among the various classic car sites, it seems that the value of this car today is around 20,000 €.

Il 04 giugno 2022 ad una manifestazione di auto d’epoca e c’era una modello di una FIAT che non conoscevo, una Pininfarina124 DS. La produzione della 124 va dal 1966 al 1985. Pur essendo io italiano, ammetto che, non conoscevo questo modello di macchina prodotto dalla casa automobilistica italiana più conosciuta. Infatti bisogna dire che la maggior parte delle vendite è avvenuta negli Stati Uniti d’America.
Questa autovettura Sport Spider montava un motore da quattro cilindri ed aveva una velocità massima di 170 km all’ora.
La Fiat 124 sport spider fu progettata e anche prodotta da Pininfarina. La Pininfarina è un’azienda italiana che lavora tuttora nel settore delle carrozzerie per automobili. Il design dell’autovettura fu curato da Tom Tjaarda, un designer statunitense che ha svolto la sua attività principalmente qui in Italia. Egli ha lavorato, oltre che per la Fiat, anche per Ferrari e De Tomaso.
L’autovettura aveva pneumatici radiali, freni a disco, cambio manuale con cinque rapporti ed era trazione posteriore.
A suo tempo questa autovettura era la più abbordabile con motore bialbero. Il motore bialbero è un motore in cui la distribuzione avviene con due alberi a camme.
Cercando un po’ tra i vari siti di auto d’epoca sembra che il valore di questa autovettura oggi si aggiri intorno ai 20.000 €.
