Introduction to Human Capital
First, let's try to understand what human capital is; that is, let's try to provide a definition that can be placed in the business/work context.
We can say the following.
Human capital is the set of characteristics that enable a person to produce economic value.
How to evaluate human capital

The concept of human capital is broad, and to evaluate the human capital of a person or ourselves, we need to know several things.
A person's human capital includes:
-Education
-Personal training
-Work experience
-Technical skills
-IT skills
-Managerial skills
-Physical health
-Communication skills
-Creativity
-Problem-solving skills
In different and perhaps simpler terms, we can now also give another definition of human capital and say that human capital represents everything a person "brings with them" when they work.
Why is it called human capital
This is also a good question. To stay on track with the main concept, we need to understand why it is called human capital.
In economics, the term capital indicates something that generates future income, so for this reason, education is considered a real investment.
The Production Function
The production function is represented below.
where:
Y = production;
A = technology;
K = physical capital;
L = labor;
H = human capital;
α = elasticity of capital.
Without going into the details of this formula, we can note that human capital increases the effectiveness of labor. This formula tells us that, given the same number of workers, more qualified people produce more.
Conclusions
Human capital represents one of the most valuable resources in the modern economy. In an increasingly knowledge- and innovation-based context, a company's value depends less on material resources alone and more on the skills of its people.
Historical Notes and Questions
It wasn't until the 1960s that the modern Human Capital Theory, created by Gary Becker, was developed.
Did you know that Gary Becker was the first to formalize the concept that studying today means giving up immediate income to obtain a higher income in the future?
Did you know that for this, Gary Becker received the Nobel Prize in Economics in 1992?

Possiamo dire quanto segue.
dove:
Y = produzione;
A = tecnologia;
K = capitale fisico;
L = lavoro;
H = capitale umano;
α = elasticità del capitale.
