Hello hivers, i am back again, and this time to talk to you about my summer holiday, 3 years ago in Benin, Edo state, Nigeria.
WHY AM I SO INTO TRAVELING?
As i said in my introduction, i love traveling, no matter where i’m going, I find it very relaxing, as i look at it as a way of relieving myself from everything stressful and negative in the world, and when i found out i was going to be traveling to Edo, i was super excited, especially because majority of my family members live there, including 8 of my cousins. I knew it was going to be fantastic.
DAY OF ARRIVAL
When the day came, i got ready quick, and we got to the airport, we checked in quickly and i landed safely with my Mum and Dad. Everything was smooth.
We got picked up by my Aunty, who was very excited to see us, and she took us to the family house, where we were going to stay.
Just imagine about 20-25 people in a massive house. It was crazy.
I saw my grandparents who i hadn’t seen in a long time, and saw some cousins for the first time, who i had only spoken to. I was very happy, i was also very tired on the first day, so i decided to sleep early so i will feel good the next day.
VACATION DAY 2
On the second day, after a day of excitement, i began to settle down and get used to my new environment. I was very eager to go out because i wanted to go sight seeing in a new atmosphere, but it seemed like i was the only one who felt that way, because everyone else was okay with just staying at home, and enjoying some family bonding. Of course i had to adapt, because i knew it wouldn’t be too long before we went outdoors.
I spent the whole day enjoying some quality time with some family members who i already knew, and also those who i hadn’t seen before, and i found out some very interesting things about them.
VACATION DAY 4
Nothing too spectacular happened up until day 4, which was the first time we went out as a family, and it was to a cinema call kada. We watched a film called the meg, which came out around that time, and after that we went to the game section. I also experienced 4D for the first time, which was scary and fun at the same time, as well as other fun games, such as shooting, racing, basketball, and many others.
We also had lunch together. It was very memorable.
VACATION DAY 5
On the fifth day of vacation, we decided to spend 2 days in a place nearby called Okomu, which is well known for its production of oil in Nigeria, I have a relative who resides there, and he welcomed us with open arms, to stay with him for 2-3 days.
It was very beautiful, calm and quiet. It had swimming pools, a little bar, and a tennis court. I knew i would have the time of my life.
Not everyone went, because it would be too crowded, so we decided that it would majorly be the people who came from Lagos that would go, and just a few who stayed in (Benin) in Edo, so i went with 5 Aunties, and 4 of my cousins.
On the first day, we just relaxed and enjoyed the new environment, having pizza and a few refreshments
On the second day, we decided to go for swimming.
And on the last day, we decided to have a game of pool and tennis.
We then went back to (Benin) in Edo on the third day. It was very interesting.
VACATION DAY 8
On the eighth day, we all went to a zoo nearby, i was excited and nervous at the same time because it was my first time of visiting one, and i didn’t know what to expect, especially because i’ve heard many stories about animals escaping and attacking tourists, but i was still exited regardless.
It ended being a great time, i saw some animals i had never seen before, and it’s something that will be in my memories for years to come.
VACATION DAY 9
Our initial plan was always to spend 10 days in Benin, and one of the main reasons we visited was to attend my Grandfathers 80th birthday party, and so we decided to do this the day before we left.
We all got ready and prepared quick for the big occasion. All family members were there, even friends.
Everything went well, we took pictures, and i enjoyed the beautiful ceremony.
He was also very happy!
DAY OF DEPARTURE
After 10 days of fun and excitement, it was time to pack up and begin my trip back to Lagos. I was sad, i wanted it to last longer, but i guess all good things must come to an end. I loved every single bit of it, and i was already hoping to visit again, even before i left.
It was a journey that i’ll always remember and one that will always be with me for life.
I said goodbye to everyone, and i took a flight back to Lagos.
I still hope to visit one day, and i will definitely come to tell you all about it here on hive.
