Who would think that a hat could cost $25k? Well a Montecristi Panama hat can. They do cheaper models, but there must be a market for hats that cost as much as a car. I only heard about this when pianist Stephen Hough named one as his luxury item on Desert Island Discs. I can appreciate that someone can put a lot of effort into making such a thing, but it's still just a hat.
I can think of plenty of things I'd spend that money on before I bought a hat, but some people want what they consider to the best.
