Description from Strava:
This run was inspired by one I saw @dannewton do where he wanted to do 90 minutes so just kept going for 45 and turned back.
It was drier than yesterday, but the wind made it feel cold. Today I was keen to avoid mud, so I stuck to the pavements. Coming out of Arlesey I went over the road bridge over the railway. The issue with that is that the traffic is noisy so I cannot hear my podcasts as well. I followed the main road to Henlow and turned up the High Street. I find running is a good opportunity to check out the houses. There are some nice ones there and a few that have been done up recently.
As you leave Henlow there is a long straight with a narrow path beside it until you get to Langford. There I saw a few other runners. I had not been sure how far I would get in 45 minutes, but I still had a way to go. Langford also has some interesting houses to check out. I just got as far as the new cemetery before it was time to turn around. That did mean running more into the wind and my legs were tiring a bit.
The run back seemed to pass quicker, but my pace was not much different. My podcast listening today was Richard Herring interviewing Rich Hall, In Our Time about Citizen Kane and then I had the start of a Cryptomaniacs. I listen at 1.5x speed to get through more shows.
Coming back I decided to cross the railway on the footbridge. It does not make much difference to the distance, but I do tend to walk a bit to avoid tripping. Then it is just a few minutes to get home.
Funnily enough my pace was exactly the same as Dan's for his equivalent run. I would not want to run much further today, but that makes about 25km for the weekend. I shall rest tomorrow, but then I will be in the office and need to walk a bit.
Have a great week and run free.
