Description from Strava:
I did not sleep that great last night, but was up by 7am anyway as I wanted to run. It looks like we had a little rain again in the night. I just had a glass of water before heading out.
Today was an intervals session of 800m sprints with 200m to recover. That repeats six times. I had a brief gentle warmup to start before the first sprint. The route along the new road has a bit of a rise and then it is up again onto the bridge over the bypass. Then it is up again past the school so that is a workout.
I headed into Stotfold and kept going until the end of the third sprint before turning back. At least the cycle path back to Arlesey is fairly flat apart from where it goes back under the bypass and I picked up some speed going down there. I actually got quicker on each repeat, which seems like a good sign, but then I slowed down on the recovery parts. Perhaps I should take those even easier.
I took the off-road route back into Arlesey to stretch it out a little and had a few minutes to wind down at the end. By then there were a few drops of rain that turned into a downpour whilst I had breakfast. We need more showers like that to top up the water levels. The heat waves and drought this year have been exceptional, so the evidence of change is clear.
As of today plug-in solar panels are legal in the UK as wiring regulations did not allow them before. I think you are limited to 800W systems, but even that can make a difference. These have been common in places like Germany for some time. They should be relatively cheap as they do not need complicated installation like my roof panels and battery. I would hope that lots of people will take advantage of this option. Today is not the best for solar, but generally production has been good over the summer with mostly clear skies.
Have a great day and run free!
