Description from Strava:
The local parkrun was cancelled again yesterday as the course is waterlogged. We have had a lot of rain lately, but this morning looked okay. I decided not to run yesterday so that I would be able to do a long run today. I opted to do the loop over to Letchworth, but would try to avoid the mud.
On the path around Fairfield there are various obstacles that I assume are intended to deter motorcyclists. This gate could be stepped over by horses, but I do not think I have ever seen it open. I usually jump it and the other obstacles.
I took the road out to Letchworth that goes up and down a bit and then the road to Norton also undulates, so I did plenty of climbing. I followed some of the Standalone 10k course that takes a back road. I may enter that race this year.
From Norton I stayed by the road rather than going through Radwell Meadows, but then there was a big puddle I had to skirt around. I encountered another big puddle later. The temperature was just right for me to be comfortable. On the latter half I actually felt stronger and able to keep going. If I can do a few more runs like this then I will be ready for a half marathon.
I am surprised I got a PR on a segment of this run as I was not trying that hard.
I saw a few other runners out there and some guys overtook me, but I would expect that as I am not very quick. I got through a few podcasts and actually ran out so I had to download another one.
Have a great week. If you want to see what I get up to with making music, logging my solar panel generation and playing with Lego you can find me on Hive. I can create accounts for anyone who wants one.
Run free!
