The bass part is surprisingly specific. However, playing something slightly different would be acceptable. The bass part is lots of E on the bass? You could play the entire song with one string. I almost did. Music games are fun.
So the bass part is “easy”, sure… but I would probably get lost without the chart or I would need to be really good at counting the number of measures in the verse or choruses OR know the lyrics well… BUT if the singer jacks-up the lyrics, you won’t know where everyone else is going to so SOOOOOoooooo it’s best to read music.
