Welcome to "Random Boat Incidents 3: Deliar, Deliar, Pants On Fire"
People will lie when threatened. This doesn't have the balls to admit they need more training. Maybe he feel ready to compensate someone if he injures them or damages their property.
Deliar's Incident Report:
June 2, 2023, Deliar was piloting the boat named Social Boat when the side collided with the prop on Miami Boat.
The first indication of inadequate training was revealed when Deliar called the dock phone asking for instructions on how to find the fuel number. It happens sometimes… and we didn’t think much of it. After leaving the fuel dock, Deliar’s boat appeared at the end of the fairway in an awkward position. As if over shooting the fairway. Deliar stopped and redirected his boat to the correct fairway.
When Deliar was approaching the slip he politely called to us and asked us to help coach him into the slip. As he got closer to the slip, the boat was at an awkward angle and gradually became perpendicular to the slip. Seeing this awkward positioning, I ran over to the back of Miami Boat. I pushed against Deliar’s boat with all my strength, but it still scraped against the chrome prop on Miami Boat. It definitely would’ve been worse if I weren’t there. Currently, the damage to both boats seems insignificant.
The scary part was when the other doc employee who had to manually assist and maneuver the front of the boat away from the front of the dock pylon while simultaneously keeping himself away from the dangerous space between the doc’s pylon and the bow of the boat. Thankfully, Deliar maintained composure and we were able to use the ropes and rails to stop the boat and safely position the boat on the dock normally for Deliar.
After Deliar and his family left, I noticed damage to the chrome lining near the aft deck/swim-step on the port side of Social Boat. I doubt this part of the boat was damaged while David was returning, and I don’t know if the damage was already there or not before he left. While cleaning the boat, we found unsavory substances in the bathroom. Fortunately, I was warned to stay away from the rags that were used to clean the bathroom.
I strongly recommend Deliar for further training.
